The Australian Burlesque Museum is a not-for-profit organisation run by a team of volunteers. We are dedicated to the collection, preservation and presentation of artefacts and ephemera relating to burlesque performance art and stripping throughout Australian history.
From our housed collection we are able to curate exhibitions and research that investigates and celebrates Australia’s diverse and unique stripping history. It is vital that this history is preserved so that future generations can rediscover the almost lost and untold stories of our founding strip-teasers.
The museum is now in the process of moving its partial collections based in Melbourne and Sydney to a central location in Canberra. This will allow for the entire collection to be stored at a central location with the ability to work with archivists to preserve the collection for future generations.
Above all we’re passionate about bringing this history to life to share with the wider community. We look forward to providing the greater Australian Burlesque Community the opportunity to work with us to preserve our greater story.
